Women's 4x800 Meter Relay Hits Provo At Drake Relays

Des Moines, Iowa -  The women's track & field team continued their season at the historic Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Coach Nick Thelen and five athletes traveled West to compete in one of the premier track & field meets of the season. The women's 4x800 placed fifth out of 16 squads en route to hitting the provisional qualifier for the Outdoor Track & Field Championships which will be contested in Asheville, North Carolina.

The quartet of Lexi Hurst, Cadence Schultz, Ella Koons, and Lauren Wooer teamed up to run a 9:20.80. Despite a schedule change due to weather caused the race to start three hours early, the women remained composed and competed at a high level.  Collectively the group exclaimed, "Considering the last minute time change we were able to adjust our plan and take it in stride. We didn't let this get to us. We are proud of our efforts with how we competed and are ready to improve as the season ramps up."

The group will return home and join their teammates on Saturday at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet.
