Fort Wayne, Indiana - The women's track & field team used a balanced attack to tally 126.5 points to finish third at the WHAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Saints would collect a trio of conference titles to add to the three they won on the first day of the championships.
The Saints would add a conference title and score four places in the women's 1500 meters.
Madison Rempalski claimed the title in the 4:36.61, while
Lauren Wooer finished second in a personal best time of 4:39.03.
Lexi Hurst would also add a personal best of 4:47.24 to place fifth and
Ella Koons placed sixth in 4:54.22. Wooer would later take the top spot in the women's 800 meter in a time of 2:13.65. She then teamed up with Hurst,
Cadence Schultz, and
Theresa Judd to place fourth in the 4x400 meter relay (4:04.81). Judd also added a point in the 100 meter hurdles with an eighth place finish (15.00). Rempalski also tallied a second place finish in the 5,000 meters (17:40.30). The Saints secured points in the 3,000 meter steeplechase as
Claire O'Boyle (12:36.05) amd
Katrina Amrhein (12:38.21) placed fifth and sixth respectively.
The field events were led by
Alexis Furgason's conference crown in the high jump. The senior cleared 5-7 on her first attempt to secure the victory. She would later place third in the triple jump with a mark of 34-8.25.
Lindsey Strutz also had a big day as she collected points in three different events. Coming off her victory in the javelin on Thursday, she placed fourth in triple jump (34-5.5), fifth in the shot put (40-2), and sixth in high jump (5-2.5). Aquinas also received points from
Maelie Hope in the shot put (third place - 43-3.5) and
Leah Rohrer in the discus (sixth place - 115-1).
Maelie Hope was awarded the meets Most Valuable Performance for her national leading effort in the hammer throw and
Leah Rohrer was named Aquninas' Champions of Character.
The Saints will now prep for last chance meets and the NAIA Outdoor National Championships.
