Grand Rapids, Michigan - Piper Whitefield, the daughter of Gretchen and Jon Whitefield, has signed her national letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Aquinas College. Whitefield, who currently attends Alcona High School, became the seventh signee of the 2024-25 recruiting class for the Aquinas College women's cross country and track & field programs.
Whitefield stated, "I chose Aquinas because I fell in love with the campus and the religious aspect of the school when I visited. The track team offered me the ability to run track and the school gave me an amazing financial aid packet so I really just couldn't say no."
Piper, who enjoys writing, traveling, going to the beach, and weightlifting, has posted personal bests of 17.95 (100 Meter Hurdles) and 53.24 (300 Meter Hurdles) on the track. Whitefield's honors include All Conference in the 100 meter hurdles and the 4x100 meter relay for four consecutive years. She also has been named All Region in the 4x1 and the 4x2 and also a state qualifier in both the sprint relays. Piper is graduating with honors from Alcona High School.
Joy Bullis, track & field coach and athletic director at Alcona High School commented, "Piper is a dedicated student-athlete. She is very coachable and learns quickly. I know that she will continue to improve with her time focused on hurdles. I cannot wait to see what her future holds! I have cherished my 4 years of coaching her."
Piper has three siblings named Raven, Harper, and Skyla and she plans on majoring in Psychology and Sociology at Aquinas College.
