Women's Track & Field Adds Keira Van Timmeren

Grand Rapids, Michigan - Keira Van Timmeren, the daughter of Mollie and Zach Doerr, has signed her national letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Aquinas College. Van Timmeren, who recently graduated from Howard City Tri County High School, became the eighth signee of the 2024-25 recruiting class for the Aquinas College women's cross country and track & field programs.

Van Timmeren stated, "Aquinas has the opportunities I'm seeking including my major and running track while simultaneously giving me a good scholarship for all the work I did in high school. I like that Aquinas is close to home, a private Christian college, and has smaller, more personal classes. I have only heard good things about attending Aquinas."

Keira, who enjoys running, tennis, hanging out with her friends and boyfriend, has posted personal bests of 27.64 (200 Meters) and 63.43 (400 Meters) on the track.  Van Timmeren was a major contributor to the Vikings track & field, cross country, sideline cheer and competitive cheer programs over her four years. She has numerous academic and athletic accolades and was a member of the National Honor Society. Keira, who also earned the Bergman Scholarship, was also named Miss Sand Lake.

Hannah Loucks, girls track & field coach at Tri County High School commented, "Keira is an outstanding individual on and off the track. As a coaching staff, we are so excited for her to take this next step in her career. In her years at Tri County High School, she rose above her peers as a stand-out individual in academics and athletics. Not only did she earn all-conference recognition and compete at the state level in track, but she was also a member of the National Honor Society at Tri County and finished top 10 in her graduating class. It is evident that Keira has a strong drive and motivation to do her best. We are so proud of her accomplishments and know that she is going to excel at Aquinas College!"

Keira has one sibling named Tristan and she plans on majoring in Pre-Law at Aquinas College.

Aquinas associate head coach Kevin Winne added, "We are excited to add Keira to our sprint squad. She brings a strong work ethic and positive attitude which will be a great addition to the program. I look forward to being able to work with Keira and watch her grow as both a student and an athlete these next four years."
