Alex Edwards Joins AQ XC/TF Recruiting Class

Grand Rapids, Michigan - Alex Edwards, the son of Melissa Macdonald, has signed his national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Aquinas College. Edwards, who recently graduated from Grandville High School, became the fifth signee of the 2025-26 recruiting class for the Aquinas College men's cross country and track & field programs.

Edwards stated, "Cross Country has brought a sense of commitment and togetherness into my life, and when choosing where I wanted to go for school - I wanted the environment around me to reflect those senses even more. Aquinas was able to perfectly reflect those feelings, and made me think I could truly be comfortable learning and competing at AQ."

Alex, who enjoys playing basketball, disc golf with friends and video games, has posted personal bests that include 18:18 on the cross course and 4:54 (1600 meters) and 10:53 (3200 meters) on the track.  Edwards, who has garnered his varsity letter in both cross country and track & field, will be a welcomed addition to the program and the campus community.

Hunt Atkins, cross country and track & field for the Bulldogs added, "In less than two years of running, Alex found a passion that significantly changed the course of his life. He is, as are many of his supporters, excited to watch how his running career will continue to guide his future. Alex is undoubtedly committed to his continued progression in cross country and track and field at Aquinas College."

Alex has two siblings named Ashley and Paul and he plans on majoring in History at Aquinas College.

Aquinas head coach Mike Wojciakowski commented, "We are excited that Alex has decided to become a Saint. I believe he has the potential to become a very solid distance runner at the next level."
