Grand Rapids, Michigan - Nick Fowler, the son of Kristin Sawyer and David Fowler, has signed his national letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Aquinas College. Fowler, who recently graduated from Jonesville High School, became the sixth signee of the 2025-26 recruiting class for the Aquinas College men's cross country and track & field programs.
Fowler stated, "One of the biggest things I looked for was if the coaches seemed nice and genuine and just from a couple interactions, I knew that AQ was the place for me."
Nick, who enjoys hanging out with friends, fishing, golfing, cologne, and card games, has posted personal bests that include 16:04 on the cross course and 1:58.3 (800 meters) and 50.33 (400 meters) on the track. Fowler, who has garnered countless conference and regional recognition in both cross country and track & field, will be a welcomed addition to the program and the campus community.
Nick recently anchored the Jonesville 4x800 meter relay to a State Championship. He possesses a unique range where he earned All-State accolades from everything from the 400 meters to cross country. He also excelled in the classroom where he was a multiple time All-State Academic recipient in both cross country and track & field.
Pete Konieczki, track & field coach for the Comets added, "Nick is one of the most talented athletes I have had the privilege of working with, but more importantly he quietly demonstrates an incredible work ethic as well. I was particularly honored to watch firsthand how Nick overcame not one, but two serious injuries, and managed a major event pivot his senior year as he pursued a circuitous route to a state title. It is that mental toughness, in particular, that leads me to believe he is ready for the challenges of college-level competition."
Nick has three siblings named David & Kylee Fowler and Mackenzie Gipperich and he plans on majoring in Kinesiology at Aquinas College.
Aquinas head coach Mike Wojciakowski commented, "Nick is a perfect fit for our program and campus community. His work ethic and humility will blend in very well with the current guys on the squad. He comes to us well prepared and has the potential to be a very, very good collegiate athlete. I am excited to start working with Nick."
