Coach Terry Bocian AQ Athletic Hall of Fame
The "Tommies" made Aquinas College baseball history by recording the College's first Grand Rapids City Collegiate Championship and the first NAIA State Championship in school history. The squad set an AQ school record for most victories (27-11) on its way to an NAIA regional appearance with state winners from Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. The team was defeated in regional play by the eventual national champion, Lewis University, after defeating regional champion, Malone College of Ohio. The members of the historic team were: Jim Ainslie, Greg Antor, Jim Berkey, Mike Despres, Paul Gnepper, Mike Hale, Kirk Kennedy, Steve Krynock, Greg LeFevre, Don Maher, Scott Marutz, Paul Nist, Jerry Orent, Ed Schiesser, Mike Shirey, Jon Wiseman, Gary Wojcynski, Jim Yeager and Jesse Young. The 1974 Aquinas College baseball team opened the doors for many more Aquinas baseball championships throughout the following years.
