Coach Terry Bocian AQ Athletic Hall of Fame
Sharon Schatz came to Aquinas to coach the volleyball squad after a sterling high school career as coach at Belding
High School. She led the Belding squads to over 300 victories, winning 75% of the games played. She was inducted
into Belding High School Hall of Fame in 2009. Her coaching career at Aquinas was outstanding as well. She led the
Saints' squads to nearly 400 wins and numerous league championships. Fifty-five of her players earned All-State
recognition, and she tutored fourteen All-Americans during her tenure. Following her retirement from coaching, Sharon
was instrumental in growing the AAU volleyball program in Western Michigan and helping Grand Rapids become the
site for the State AAU volleyball championships. Sharon's work ethic, attention to detail, and eye to the future has
made her one of the most influential people in our local volleyball community.
