Coach Terry Bocian AQ Athletic Hall of Fame
Jerry Hendrick has served as the Aquinas College men's tennis head coach for the past 23 seasons. Under his leadership, AQ men’s tennis has won 17 WHAC Conference Championships, 12 NAIA regional titles, qualified for the NAIA National Championship tournament 15 times, and numerous players have achieved 100 wins during their careers at Aquinas. While at Aquinas, Jerry has compiled a .770 winning percentage and has been named the Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference coach of the year numerous times. Jerry served as the WHAC Tennis Chairman for nearly two decades. He also served three terms as the President of the NAIA Tennis Coaches Association and four terms as the National Chairperson of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ranking Committee. He is the co-founder and 20 year director of the Hall of Fame Classic, Grand Rapids largest fundraiser tennis tournament, and the author of “I Love You But You Should Have Won!,” a book for parents of sports-playing children. Prior to coming to Aquinas, Jerry coached at Jackson Lumen Christi High School for two seasons where he led both teams to the high school state championship tournament. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Spring Arbor University and his master's degree in social work from Grand Valley State University. Jerry lives in Grand Rapids with his wife, Beth, and their three children, Ashley, Aaron and Austin, all accomplished tennis players.
