We recently started a new series called "Getting AQuainted With…" as a way for our fans to get to know our Aquinas head coaches on a few professional topics and through some more light-hearted questions.
Name: Ted Craig
Hometown: Pentwater, Michigan
Alma Mater / Year / Major: Grand Valley State / 1996 / Bachelor of Music
What is your favorite thing about being a head coach at Aquinas? I love providing an opportunity for students to continue doing something they love at the college level. Many of my students consider band to be a defining aspect of their life. I'm glad Aquinas has a place for them to not only continue that aspect but grow it as well.
What is your top memory from your time at AQ? It's been a relatively short time, but I would say playing for the women's volleyball tournament was a highlight for the whole band. The crowd was amazing and I really felt like we made an impact in those games.
Your favorite:
Musical artist/band? As music major, this is a tough question actually. I'd have to go with Miles Davis. I always come back to his music whenever I need to be grounded, so to speak.
Movie? Swingers
TV Show? Right now either Chopped or Caribbean Life (I'm old)
Meal? Ribeye steak with potatoes and asparagus
Restaurant? A good steakhouse
Sports team (non AQ)? Detroit Red Wings
What have you been watching during quarantine? The Morning Show, Dead To Me, American Idol (Home Edition)
What is something about you that would surprise most people? I spent more time playing sports in high school than playing in band
What is your hidden talent? I can play every instrument
If you could go on vacation anywhere and price was not a factor, where would you go? Bora Bora or Fiji
What would you be if you weren't a coach? This is unique for me - I'd actually like to be a coach...of sports
What is/would be your go-to karaoke song? Ugh, not a fan...at all. I'd probably go with something by Neil Young
What was your first job? Worked at the Dari-Creme in Pentwater. I was 13 and made $1.75/hour
Who is the most famous person you've met? I shook hands with Jay Leno
If resources and time weren't factors, what would you like to cross off your bucket list? I'd like to ride a big, powerful motorcycle through the canyons in Arizona
