Getting AQuainted with Ashley Rowe

We recently started a new series called "Getting AQuainted With…" as a way for our fans to get to know our Aquinas head coaches on a few professional topics and through some more light-hearted questions.

Name: Ashley Rowe

Hometown: Grand Rapids, Michigan

Alma Mater / Year / Major: GVSU/2011/Lib Studies, CMU/2016/Masters in Sports Administration

What is your favorite thing about being a head coach at Aquinas? Building relationships with the athletes, and producing pieces of choreography with such a talented group of dancers to create impressive visual and athletic work

What is your top memory from your time at AQ? Since I've just completed my first year coaching at AQ, every memory is special. The greatest so far was when we hosted the first ever WHAC Championships for Dance. The AQ dance team won the event, and the dancers dominated the All-Conference auditions. Seeing everything come together, and the team peaking at the most important time was very rewarding.

Your favorite:

Musical artist/band? Aerosmith

Movie? Zoolander, A League of Their Own

TV Show? The Office, New Girl

Book? Summer Sisters

Meal? Philly cheesesteak, chili, or pot roast

Restaurant? Lindo Mexico

Sports team (non AQ)? Packers, Pistons, Minnesota and Cincinnati Dance Teams

What have you been watching during quarantine? The Last Dance, Diners Drive Ins and Dives

What is something about you that would surprise most people? I skipped 2nd Grade

What is your hidden talent? Tap dancing

If you could go on vacation anywhere and price was not a factor, where would you go? Greece

What would you be if you weren't a coach? I currently work in sports marketing - I would have to continue with dance in some way, though!

Go-to Karaoke song? Proud Mary (the Tina Turner version) - but you'll never catch me on the mic

What was your first job? Dance teacher at Rapid City Dance Factory (still doing it!)

Most famous person you've met? Ben Wallace, Chauncey Billups, Bela Karolyi

If resources and time weren't factors, what would you like to cross off your bucket list? Renovate (and live in) an old farm house, and sail the East coast
