Every week during the school year the Aquinas sports information department recognizes the accomplishments of two student-athletes by naming them Saints of the Week. In the spotlight for the week of Feb. 21-27 are:
Liberty Cawthorn, Women's Rugby
The freshman from Des Moines, Iowa, scored nine tries this past weekend in a pair of AQ developmental wins over Bowling Green, 55-0, and Grand Valley State, 60-0, at the Great Lake's 7 Tournament. The AQ defense allowed an impressive zero points in the two victories today. Through the Saints' six developmental games during the 2022-23 campaign, Aquinas has outscored its opponents 214-17, collectively.
Zachary Sweet, Men's Lacrosse
The senior attacker from Canton, Mich., scored a team-leading seven goals over the weekend, including five in a 31-5 win over Clarke (Iowa) this past Sunday (Feb. 26). He has the third-most goals in the conference and tied for the most shots on goal (12) after the program's first two games of the 2023 season.
